Analysis of BLOG!

This is an analysis of my classmate, Ningjing's blog. http://foodnutritionpt.blogspot.com/

Her reflections have been rather detailed and informative and talks about her diet. She has mentioned that she put the analysis results of her diet to good use by using the results to find out her healthy dish.

As for the ingredients, lean meat, olive oil and leek. Olive oil is known to be healthier than other oils and leek is a vegetable. Lean meat does not have any trans fat which is good for health as the fat willl not clog up yourarteries. This is a healthy dish as the ingredients are all a healthier choice.

Her diet analysis has shown that she has done her research as she has written out clearly and what she is lacking and the problems that will be caused due to these deficiencies. She explains in detail how she can modify her diet to make it healthier, and how she can make use of this new information to lead a healthy lifestyle. She has really begun thinking about her diet and how doing this Performance Task has affected her and made her motivated to change her lifestyle to a healthier one.

Analysis of BLOG!

This is an analysis of my classmate, Jessica's blog. http://cookingnutrition.wordpress.com/

Her reflections were indepth and clearly explained what she has learnt. She has also given examples of illnesses that a person might get if a well-balanced diet is not maintained. Her modified recipe shows that she has done her research well and found a good way to modify the dish so that is way healthier than what she was eating before. For example, using olive oil instead of peanut and canola oil is a lot healthier. This makes her healthy dish a much better choice.

However, I feel that she has a slight misunderstanding that only meat will give u saturated fat. Saturated fat comes not only from meat, but also from chocolates and snacks such as potato chips.

Her analysis, in overall, was not very detailed and could have been more specific as to what she is taking enough of and what she is not. Also, she could give examples on how to solve her problem of lacking calcium. She does not take a lot of meat, but she takes more soy products to make up for it.

Her analysis on her 3 day diet is very detailed, specific and clear. She has 3 different post for 3 different days and this makes referencing easier. She has also clearly titled the posts which will make it easier to browse through and not get confused.

Analysis of BLOG!

This is an analysis of my classmate, Christina's blog. http://fooooodblog.blogspot.com/

The background of the blog is very appropriate for this PT as at one glance, one can tell that this blog is related to the food/comsumption of food. the fonts used is large enough for people to read with ease and the colors used for the words are contrasting with the background making it easier to read.

Her blog is really informative and detailed, I think she has really thought about her diet over the past few days and commented on it herself, and how she should improve on her diet to make it healthier too. Her analysis of her diet for 3 days is very detailed and calculated carefully.

Also, for the modification of the dish, she gave a detailed description of why the dish is healthy and how she had modified it to make it healthier. This shows that she has really thought and applied what she has learnt. Also, pictures of food pyramid help to enhance the audience's understanding of what she is trying to bring across to the audience about her diet.

She accepts whatever information and conclusions she has collected from the analysis of her diet and has from there on made plans to change and correct her diet to live a healthier lifestyle.

However, what she could do is to go more in depth into how she can make changes to her diet, for example, through what methods can she live a healthier lifestyle?

Reflections

Through this Performance Task, I analysed and took special notice of my diet and learnt that there can be a lot of changes made to my diet to make it healthier as it is quite unhealthy now as I am consuming too much sodium which is unhealthy, not enough calcium, but too much protein which will eventually turn into fats. I am also not taking in enough vegetables and fruits, which means that I am not getting enough vitamins from diet for my body.

I had thought my diet was healthy previously, but after seeing the diet analysis and looking back on my diet, I realised that I really should try to eat more bland food as too much sodium will cause health problems such as high blood pressure. I do not want that to happen, thus I will try to take in less sodium.
Then, I had thought that my intake of calcium was enough too. But contrary to my belief, I am in fact, not taking in enough calcium, and this will definitely weaken my bones and teeth. In order to take in more calcium, I should start drinking more milk and on a consistent diet, this will then ensure a good supply of calcium in my body.

I had known that I was quite a big meat eater, but I did not know exactly how much protein I was consuming on average. I should cut down on my meat intake as this will definitely lead to a build up of fats in my body, and I surely don't want that to happen. Fats will cause clogging of our blood vessels and is the cause of many diet related diseases. Therefore I need to cut down on my protein intake.

Finally will be my intake of fruits and vegetables. Before the analysis I had even thought that I was taking enough vegetables and fruits and had provided my body with sufficient nutrients and vitamins. Now I know that I need to take in even more vegetables and fruits so that I will be healthier.

Thus, from now I will try to keep to a healthier diet so that my body will get all the nutrients needed, but also not overeating and causing an unnecessary build up of fats in my body.

A Healthy Dish

View photo.JPG in slide show
This dish is Spaghetti Bolognaise which was made during Food and Nutrition class. It is a healthy dish as compared to others.
The chicken meat in the sauce had no skin, and very little oil was added to the dish when seasoning. There is also a balance of vegetables and meat in the dish.

Food Intake Assessment

An overall view of diet over the course of 3 days

According to the Food Intake Assessment, I have a high intake of protein, but slightly too much fat, cholesterol and too much sodium. I need to cut down on my sodium intake as it is quite unhealthy.
